Musicians for every need

Interested in hiring a CU Boulder music student to perform at your event? We maintain an extensive database of talented, professional music students available for hire—and we’re happy to provide referrals. Whether you wish to create the perfect ambiance at a cocktail hour or add a special touch to your wedding, you’ve come to the right place.

Our musicians have performed at banquets, corporate events, community concerts, church services, fundraisers, funerals, happy hours, retirement homes and weddings. Whatever your event, we have a collection of soloists and ensembles to set the mood. For more permanent positions, please contact ecm@colorado.edu and we will be able to advertise your position to our community of musicians. Please provide a job description (.docx or .pdf) in your email.

Musician referral process

The process of referring and connecting musicians is best begun at least 2-3 months in advance in order for us to identify suitable musicians; we’re happy to plan and consult with clients well in advance. The typical turnaround from musician request to email connection with the musician(s) takes two to three weeks, but varies depending on musician needs and the time of year that the request is submitted. For example, requests submitted during the summer, winter break and final exam periods (early- to mid-December and late April to early May) may take longer. CU Gigs has no obligation to process and refer musician requests within three weeks of an event.

Contracts, rates + rights

CU Gigs is a musician referral service, only. Clients contract and directly pay any musicians we refer; we do recommend that clients and musicians start at a rate of $100/hour/musician. Musicians will often present a contract/invoice package for clients, but clients may also provide their own. Clients may choose from a select group of interested musicians (up to five different contacts). Or, if you would prefer, we’ll make the selection for you; just contact us at CUGigs@colorado.edu

Event no-shows, cancellations

In the rare event that a student fails to show up or otherwise cancels unexpectedly, please contact us at CUGigs@colorado.edu immediately so that appropriate action may be taken. Nevertheless, CU Gigs is not responsible for issues involving gigging students and any grievances are to be handled directly with the students.
