First Funding Cycle
  1. Latine Student Alliance - “Sabores y Culturas” on September 25th from 6:30-9:00 PM at CASE

  • Spent $0 so far – remind students to submit a “Payment Request” in BuffConnect in order to spend funds
  • Reach out to the org regarding submission of marketing
SASA - “Garba Night” on September 27th from 6-9 PM at Will Vill 
  • Updates
  • Spent $325.06 out $4,817.86 – remind students to submit a “Payment Request” in BuffConnect in order to spend funds

Hike for Help - “Nepali Cultural Immersion Event” on September 4th from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at Abrams Lounge

  • Post-Event Hearing
  • Advertising
  • No advertising was sent to the board, however they advertised for the event despite this
  • Seemingly advertised a lot especially at the BIF, due to the event being packed
  • Logistics
  • Event start was pushed back to 6:30, but communication on this was not clear
  • Vendor for the event was not paid on time
  • Reimbursement was also not able to be carried out properly
  • Post spending form was not submitted
  • The event did not seem culturally enriching or educational. 
  • There was no content about Nepali/Sherpa culture
  • Majority of content brought to the board in first hearing was not in the event
  • Only eight people filled out the post event survey
  • All eight of these people were members of Hike for Help

  • At the event you got a bag of rocks and food
  • The presentation of the event started at 7, talked about why the club was created
  • Presentation only lasted about 45 minutes, but besides that they talked about hiking, as well as mainly recruiting people for the club
  • No talk of Buddhism or the religious/cultural importance of the event was not discussed
  • Future Directions
  • Call in the org for a post event hearing
  • We will discuss the difference in the advertised event compared to the actual event.

  1. Bengali Cultural Society - “Durga Puja” on October 12th and 13th from 10:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 9:30 AM – 7:30 PM at JSCBB

  • Spent $2,474 out of $6,770.27 for their idol – remind students to submit a “Payment Request” in BuffConnect in order to spend funds
  • Please let the org know I've gotten word that there is a football game on 10/12. Even on east campus, if the game time lines up with the event there could be issues with their ability to have guests get there.
  1. Bangladeshi Student Association - “Bangladesh Night” on September 20th from 5-9 PM at Glenn Miller Ballroom

  • Funding cycle things:
  • Just want to really stress the importance of getting back to student orgs in a timely manner
  • Turnaround time should be within 48 hours (again, if you don’t have the capacity to do that, this is why we have 2 liaisons per org)
  • 2nd funding cycles start next week – meaning most people will end up with 2 orgs (1 finishing 1st funding cycle, and 1 for 2nd) 
  • Which means: we really need to stay organized and make sure we communicate if we’re having issues
