Dragonfly Community Science Volunteer Opportunity at Rocky Mountain National Park

Dragonfly Mercury Project Community Science Opportunity flyer

The following is information provided by the National Park Service:

Dragonfly Mercury Project Community Science Opportunity!
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Date: June 12th, 15th, and 16th
Where: Beaver Meadows Visitor Center

Sharpen your scientific skills and help us collect dragonfly larvae! Sign up for one day or multiple days!

Once the dragonflies are collected, they are sent to labs for analysis of mercury. Mercury is a pollutant that can harm human and wildlife health. Investigating dragonfly larvae allow us to understand if park ecosystems are healthy or contaminated with mercury.
Get ready to participate in an ongoing scientific study! Afterward, you can access the data and compare your park with over 40 national parks across the U.S.
