The CU Boulder Conference on World Affairs and the Office of International Student Academic Success invite international undergraduate students from all disciplines to participate in a research and poster presentation contest titled "International Takes: Sharing an Aspect of my Country with the CWA". Participants will conduct research that addresses topics related to world affairs in connection to their background as international students, which may include home country or region, language, history, and culture. All participants will conduct their research under the mentorship of a CU Boulder professor. Program participants will receive financial support for poster production.

A committee formed of faculty, staff, and students will select up to 10 participants based on the strength of their program proposals. Selected participants will attend a session during the Conference on World Affairs on the CU Boulder campus (April 6-9, 2022) and present their research to conference attendees in a poster session.

Proposals should be submitted via the International Takes Google Form are due by 5 p.m. on Monday October 11. Successful proposals will address the following:

  • Proposed research topic, and the student’s previous experience or knowledge of the topic
  • Alignment of suggested research topic with CWA’s 2022 themes (Art as Activism, Racism in the U.S., Can the U.S. Constitution survive the 21st Century, Regenerative Agriculture, Entrepreneurship) or broader topics (International Affairs, Business, Human Condition, Science and Technology, Arts)
  • The importance of developing research and public speaking skills for the student’s professional development and career aims
  • The student’s status in good academic standing and demonstration of an ability to manage the research project and program commitments in addition to the demands of regular coursework
