University of Nebraska Medical Center Summer Undergrad Research Program

SURP (Summer Undergraduate Research Program): An awesome opportunity for students to get hands on lab experience.  Students can identify faculty they would like to work with and will get matched with a lab they are interested in and are open to working with undergraduates.  They also have seminars from a variety of different departments to gain exposure to a wide range of topics and fields.

An applicant must be:

  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident 
  • Currently enrolled as a freshman, sophomore, junior or a December graduate in college
    • graduated seniors will not be given consideration

 
 Other factors considered include:

  •   Cumulative GPA of 3.4 and above
  •   Completion of science courses beyond general biology or chemistry (e.g. organic chemistry, microbiology, genetics, etc.)
  •   Research Essay and strong letters of recommendation
