Apply to be a GSS Fellow this Summer (paid)

The Global Sustainability Scholars program is accepting applications to be a GSS Fellow. Applications are due on January 31, 2021.

Background: The GSS Fellows Program offers a 10-week paid professional training experience with a Sustainability Organization for graduate students from underrepresented groups in STEM fields. This program aims to bridge young professionals to career or graduate school. 

How it works:  GSS Fellows are embedded within an international sustainability research project for 10 weeks during the summer months. Fellows are paid a stipend of $8000 for their full participation in the program. To apply follow this link:  https://www.gsscholar.org/apply 

Time Commitment: ~40 hrs a week for 10 weeks in Summer 2021

2021 GSS Fellows:  We are seeking GSS Fellows to engage in a summer research experience with one of two sustainability focused international partner organizations: Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action projects and Future Earth projects. This summer’s projects fall under the following themes: Food, Water & Energy Nexus in Urban regions, and Ocean Sustainability.   

GSS Mentors consist of the GSS team and international researchers. Mentors will work with GSS Fellows, meeting weekly to discuss individual professional goals and skills. 

Who Can Apply to Be a Fellow? 

  • Applicants should have graduated with a bachelor's degree in the past 4 years.
  • Applicants need to be currently enrolled in a graduate program from an accredited academic institution towards a degree in a sustainability field or starting graduate studies in the Fall 2021.
  • Applicants must be US citizens and have a valid US passport.
