Campus Space Management Project Webpage
Part of CU Boulder’s Campus Financial Stewardship Initiative
CU Boulder is taking a closer look at how campus space is planned, allocated, and managed—and we want to hear from you.
The Campus Space Management Feedback Survey invites faculty, staff and students to share perspectives on how space works across the university today and where there may be opportunities to improve how space management related decisions are made in the future.
This survey focuses on experience, perspectives, and ideas. It is not a space inventory or utilization report.
About the Space Assessment Project
The Campus Space Management Feedback Survey is a key deliverable of the Space Assessment Project, a short-term initiative charged with examining how space management decisions are made at CU Boulder and identifying opportunities to strengthen clarity, consistency, and stewardship.
The project is exploring topics such as:
- How space is allocated and requested
- Where policies may be unclear or incomplete
- How governance and decision-making are structured
- How research space is supported
- How data, tools, and reporting support space decisions
Input from this survey, along with facilitated workshops with the Space Assessment Project Task Force, will help inform future guidance, policies, and improvements related to campus space management and decision-making.
How This Fits into Campus Financial Stewardship
The Space Assessment Project is part of CU Boulder’s broader Campus Financial Stewardship Initiative, which focuses on using university resources thoughtfully, transparently, and in alignment with institutional priorities.
Campus space is one of CU Boulder’s most limited and valuable resources. Understanding how space management decisions are experienced across campus is an important step toward strengthening long-term stewardship.

About the survey
The Campus Space Management Feedback Survey:
- Solicits input from the campus community (faculty, staff, and students)
- Focuses on perspectives and lived experience, not square footage or reporting
- Complements—but is separate from—the biennial space utilization reporting completed by building proctors and managers
Responses will be reviewed in aggregate and used to inform campuswide recommendations and next steps.
