Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.  -Margaret Mead

As we navigate through these times of tremendous change, an opportunity exists to emerge stronger, with increased dedication and sense of purpose, to serve the citizens of Colorado and our friends across the country and the world. CU Boulder has unique advantages to enable greatness as we have a longstanding tradition of service, innovation, and commitment to the greater good

Our highly interconnected work cannot occur without the strong foundation of a central IT organization. Often unnoticed, our networks, cloud services, and ecosystem of IT tools are working 24/7 in support of the faculty, students and staff. The Office of Information Technology provides customer-focused core IT services and tools to enable our campus partners to shape tomorrow’s leaders, be a top university for innovation, and positively impact humanity.

We, at the Office of Information Technology, come together to form effective, nimble teams that work in concert together and in collaboration with units across the campus in support of the university mission. While the foundation of our expertise lies in our technical prowess, we have a diverse skill set -- both qualitative and quantitative, with an array of backgrounds and experiences along with a staff that is 29% undergraduate and graduate students, 32% female and 24% people of color. We stand united that solutions are best found when diverse thoughts emerge out of authentic dialog.

We have the technical skills and expertise that rivals any AAU R1 institution. We provide transparency of the work we do on behalf of the priorities of CU Boulder. However, it is our behaviors that make the most impact -- being resilient, remaining future-focused and having a willingness to adapt when there is no roadmap -- that is powerful. Also, while being mindful that no matter what has been done, there is so much more to accomplish. This is certainly the case when it comes to diversity, inclusion and combating systemic racism.

I am honored and humbled to take the reins and be the CIO for CU Boulder. I believe and trust in the talent that each one of you brings to your work and appreciate the thoughtfulness and dedication that I witness every day. As we address the challenges of 2021, we will do so with shared vision and purpose, utilizing the full capacity and capability of OIT. When things are challenging, that is often when excellence emerges. I look forward to seeing all that entails and working with you.
