Historian to discuss digital humanities for undergrads

The "Exploring Digital Humanities" lecture series tackles topics on research and pedagogy.

Historian Jeffrey McClurken will give a talk titled "Claiming Digital Humanities for Undergraduates: Learning, Knowledge Production, & Digital Identity" on Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. in CU-Boulder’s Norlin Library N410.

McClurken, a professor of history and special assistant to the provost for teaching, technology and innovation at University of Mary Washington, argues that incorporating digital tools in the humanities can and should be a key part of the undergraduate research experience, as well an important part of students developing a scholarly digital identity.

On Friday, Sept. 18, McClurken will also offer a workshop on integrating digital humanities into undergraduate teaching. This event is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Norlin Library E113.

This appearance is part of the “Exploring Digital Humanities” lecture series, which examines how digital technologies are changing both research and pedagogy. Refreshments are provided.

The series is sponsored by the University of Colorado Department of History, University Libraries and cosponsored by several other departments, programs and funds.
