On August 22 and 24, Alpha Company of CU Boulder’s Army ROTC Golden Buffalo Battalion held their New Cadet Orientation. The New Cadet Orientation is designed to welcome incoming cadets into the program through various team building activities.

The day began at the Buffalo Plaza outside of Folsom Field. Here, LTC Lynae Place, the officer-in-charge of the Army ROTC program and Professor of Military Science led a brief introduction of the Cadre and what cadets should expect from the program. After her introduction, the group set off for a short run across campus to the Kittredge Fields. Once there, cadets were separated into squads and performed various team building activities. These included tug-of-war, simulated casualty evacuations, relay races, and pugil stick Army training.

Following the events on Kittredge Fields, Cadets were led up the hills of Boulder to Chautauqua Park, where they first conducted Physical Readiness Training drills with current upperclassmen cadets. Here, all new members of the program got the chance to meet current cadets and get acclimated to life at CU-Boulder.

New cadets then hiked the Flatirons alongside cadre and current upperclassmen. With Chautauqua Park being a staple in Boulder, cadets were able to enjoy the views whilst building camaraderie within the program CU Army ROTC is happy to have our new Cadets on board for a great semester and the entirety of their time here at CU-Boulder!
