This annual event is held in honor of the veteran community and an opening, if you will, of the upcoming holiday season. The star was first lit on Boulder’s Flagstaff Mountain in December 1947.

To ensure COVID-19 precautions, only a small number of people were able to participate in this virtual event hosted by John Tayer from the Boulder Chamber and Rex Laceby representing the CU Boulder Veterans Alumni Association. The ceremony was conducted on the roof of the Colorado Building in downtown Boulder.

For further information about the ceremony and the history of the lighting of the star, please check out the Boulder Chamber website at: https://boulderchamber.com/about-us/boulder-star/
