Enlistment swearing in ceremony conducted from space – Aerospace building – February 26, 2020
The Colorado Army Recruiting office coordinated with other recruiting offices around the country to participate in a joint oath of enlistment ceremony conducted from space. U.S. Army Colonel (COL) Andrew Morgan on the International Space Station simultaneously enlisted over 900 future service members in more than 145 locations. This was the first event of its kind. COL Morgan a current astronaut on the space station showed his Army pride in zero gravity.
CU’s own Dr. William “Bill” Doe, Research Development Manager with the College of Engineering & Applied Sciences on campus, played a key role in spearheading the participation with the local candidates. Mr. Doe served 22 years as an active duty U.S. Army Officer and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with the Engineering Corps.
