Scott Barrows at the ancient astronomical calendar in Tikal

I am a postdoctoral research associate in the Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy (CASA) at the University of Colorado Boulder working with Professor Julie Comerford. I am also currently a visiting astronomer at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. My research interests include Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), the powerful engines at the centers of galaxies powered by accreting supermassive black holes (SMBHs). My past and current research includes projects on the nature of accretion disks around SMBHs, and the potential connection between AGN and galaxy mergers. You can read more about my research here.
