12 members of the Anseth group traveled to Jackson, WY for the Polymer Networks 2012 conference. Daniel Alge, Kyle Kyburz, Mark Tibbitt, Chelsea Magin, Daniel McKinnon, and Malar Azagarsamy gave oral presentations and Kelly Pollock, Kelly Trowbridge, Emi Tokuda, Jennifer Leight, Katie Lewis, and Emily Matherly presented posters.

Sharon Wang publishes "Redirecting Valvular Myofibroblasts into Dormant Fibroblasts through Light-Mediated Reduction in Substrate Modulus" in PLoS ONE

Aug. 20, 2012

Sharon (Huan) Wang shows that valvular interstitial cells will return to a quiescent phenotype after reducing the modulus of the substrate on which they are plated using the nitrobenzyl photochemistry the Anseth group brought into hydrogels. The figure shows the reduction in alpha smooth muscule actin (green) in gels that...

Pat Hume publishes "Strategies to Reduce Dendritic Cell Activation through Functional Biomaterial Design" in Biomaterials

Aug. 20, 2012

Pat Hume showed that immunosuppressive factors maintain their activity when tethered to a hydrogel and reduce markers of dendritic cell activation. The figure shows reduced levels of IL-12 expression in dendritic cells seeded upon hydrogels functionalized with immunosuppressive proteins TGF-B1 and IL-10. P.S. Hume, J. He, K. Haskins, and K.S...
