Welcome new students. We’re happy you’ve chosen CU Boulder and academic advisors across campus are excited to begin working with you.

What is Academic Advising?

As academic advisors, our goal is to help you create and achieve your educational, career and life goals.

Meeting with your advisor may look different from when you met with your high school guidance counselor. Advising is more than just offering course information, though we also do that. It involves getting to know you and your interests as well. By learning about your interests, we can help you explore all options and personalize your academic experience.

Over the summer, we’ll help you create your first-semester schedule. We encourage students to meet with their advisors every semester beyond that. This helps us get to know you better and discuss the direction of your education.

Use the timeline and resources below to learn how advising will work over the summer. We look forward to meeting with you!
