The University of Colorado Police Department has identified a suspect wanted for questioning in a pattern of recent wallet thefts at three university campuses: CU-Boulder, CU Anschutz Medical Campus and the Colorado School of Mines.
Raymond Webster Hamilton, 26, of Denver, pawned an iPad just hours after it was stolen from a CU-Boulder Visual Arts Complex office on July 25, 2012. CU and Lakewood police obtained an arrest warrant related to that case for providing false information to a pawn broker. Hamilton is also wanted for questioning in a series of wallet and laptop thefts from CU-Boulder academic building offices last month.
Hamilton is 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds. If you know of Hamilton’s whereabouts or see him on campus, contact CU Police dispatch at 303-492-6666.
“Students and employees should not allow their valuable items to go unattended,” said CU-Boulder Police Chief Joe Roy. “Doing so provides thieves a crime of opportunity.”
The CU-Boulder Police Department reminds the campus community to keep lockers and offices secured when unattended. In common areas, such as dining facilities, libraries or the University Memorial Center, never leave laptops, mobile phones or other valuable items unattended – even if just stepping away for a few minutes.
