On Sept. 6, more than five hundred Boulder campus staff turned out to enjoy sunshine and ice cream on the east terrace of the Center for Community. The event included a DJ and more than 20 vendor and campus benefit program tables, and proved a fun and informative day for the attendees.

Vonda Maki and Dominique de Vangel, co-chairs of the Boulder Staff Council’s (BSC) Outreach Committee, thanked the vendors, campus departments and fellow BSC members for making the event a success. “It’s a lot of detailed coordination behind the scenes, but when it all comes together and you see the staff talking with vendors and having a good time it is all worth it,” said de Vangel.

The BSC’s Outreach Committee has two additional events scheduled for the fall. The annual Winter Warmth Drive will kick off in October, and meets a growing community need. Local organizations report not only a need for coats and other warm winter wear, but also for blankets and towels. Boulder campus community members are encouraged to make this year’s coat drive the most successful to-date. Look for donation drop-off points around campus.

Closing out the fall semester, the Staff Appreciation Breakfast will be held on Dec. 6. Building on last year’s successful event, the breakfast will feature a Health and Wellness Fair as part of the festivities. Watch for additional updates on both events.
