University of Colorado at Boulder experts in the science, business and policy issues surrounding renewable and sustainable energy sources will gather for a town hall meeting and discussion March 21, the first public event of the university's new Renewable and Sustainable Energy Initiative.

Participants in the town hall meeting will discuss ongoing activities at CU-Boulder relating to developing alternate energy sources, energy utilization and commercialization of energy technologies. The meeting will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Hale Science Building, room 270, on the CU-Boulder campus.

Panelists will include Distinguished Professor Frank Barnes of electrical engineering, chemical engineering Professor Alan Weimer, history and environmental studies Professor Patricia Limerick and business Professor Stephen Lawrence. Each panelist will make a five-minute presentation and participate in a group discussion.

The panel also will include: international environmental law Professor Lakshman Guruswamy; Kate Tallman, assistant director of the CU-Boulder Technology Transfer Office; Roberta Klein, managing director of the CU-Boulder Center for Science and Technology; Associate Professor of sociology Lori Hunter; Ghita Carroll, graduate student and energy program manager at the CU Environmental Center; chemistry Associate Professor David Jonas; and Paul Jerde, director of the CU-Boulder Deming Center for Entrepreneurship.
