Seven University of Colorado at Boulder graduate school specialty programs were ranked in the top 20 in the nation in the annual U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings released today.
The magazine's 2005 edition of Best Graduate Schools ranked engineering, law, business, education, medicine, public affairs and selected health fields for more than 1,000 programs this year. No new rankings were conducted in the sciences, social sciences, humanities or arts for the 2005 evaluation.
CU-Boulder's College of Engineering and Applied Science landed three specialty programs in the top 20 nationwide, including Aerospace-Aeronautical-Astronautical Engineering at 12th, Chemical Engineering tied at 18th with Cornell University and Civil Engineering tied for 20th with Princeton University.
The engineering college also was ranked 33rd overall and the 19th best public engineering graduate college in the nation.
The environmental law specialty program in the CU School of Law was tied for seventh with George Washington University.
In business school rankings, the Entrepreneurship Specialty program at CU-Boulder's Leeds School of Business ranked 15th in the nation.
In the U.S. News health specialty rankings, CU-Boulder's Clinical Psychology program was tied for 15th with four other universities and the Speech-Language Pathology program was tied for 17th with four other universities.
In addition, CU-Boulder's School of Education was ranked alphabetically in the top 50 teacher-preparation education schools. Although the top 50 schools were not ranked by number, the key attributes used to compile the top 50 list included accreditation, whether students intern in a professional development school that is closely tied to the university and whether peer working groups are organized for student teachers.
