Denver Elementary School Children to Tour CU-Boulder Space Center Dec. 13

Two dozen students from Odyssey School in Denver will tour BioServe Space Technologies Center on the CU-Boulder campus beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, to learn more about how the microgravity of space can help humans develop new products and technologies in medicine, the life sciences and agriculture.
Odyssey School is a charter school that focuses on "expeditionary learning," emphasizing field trips that provide the students with hands-on learning. BioServe faculty, researchers and students -- who have built and flown payloads on 17 NASA space shuttles and will have experiments on the International Space Station -- will show the students various payloads and experiments that have flown in space.
The students will meet in the Forum Room of the aerospace engineering sciences department, located in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at Colorado Avenue and Regent Drive. The tour and talks at the NASA Commercial Space Center will run until 1:30 p.m., with a 30-minute break for lunch at noon.
