The University of Colorado at Boulder Campus Staff Council is sponsoring a drive to benefit victims of the recent flooding in Fort Collins.

Donations of non-perishable food, baby items, personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies are needed, according to the American Red Cross.

Collection boxes have been set up in most buildings on the main campus as well as some on the East Campus. Donations also may be given to Staff Council representatives.

The collection will continue through Wednesday, Aug. 13. Volunteers will pick up the items on Thursday and deliver them to Fort Collins on Friday.

“There is a lot of interest,’’ said Mary Lowe of the Graduate School. After only a few days of collections, “I already had to empty the box in my office. I can only imagine what my office is going to look like by Wednesday.’’

The American Red Cross also welcomes cash donations at the following address: American Red Cross, Attn: Fort Collins Relief, 444 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203.
