The University of Colorado at Boulder will host the 10th Annual Pre-Collegiate Olympiad on Saturday, July 12.

The Pre-Collegiate Development Program is sponsoring the event celebrating its 13th anniversary on the Boulder Campus and 10th anniversary as a systemwide effort.

The Olympiad will pull together about 300 high school students and staff from around the Denver metro area to participate in both academic and athletic competitions among participants from three CU campuses.

Activities are designed to promote interaction among the participants in an effort to build stronger support groups assisting the 1998 high school seniors in their preparation for post-secondary education.

Pre-Collegiate Development is an academic enhancement program sponsored and supported by the university’s three undergraduate campuses and the Office of the President to assist educationally and economically disadvantaged students in preparation for college life.

A welcome will begin at 9 a.m. in the Mary Rippon Theater. Academic competitions will be held in various rooms throughout the University Memorial Center, while athletic competitions will take place at the Student Recreation Center, Farrand Field and Potts Field.

The Olympiad will last until 5 p.m. and is free of charge to all participants. Parents are invited to watch.
