Ten new directors have been elected to head the University of Colorado at Boulder Alumni Association.

Boulderite Steve Taniguchi, class of 1976, was elected by the board to serve a two-year term as chair. Al Gebauer of Boulder, who earned degrees in 1968 and 1983, will serve a one-year term as treasurer.

The 49-member board, representing more than 170,000 CU-Boulder alumni, oversees association activities in Colorado and nationally and internationally.

Taniguchi will bring his business skills to the board with a noted sense of humor. He replaces Don Estes of Littleton, class of 1958, whose leadership carried the association through significant changes in the past two years.

"It's been a landmark period. We've achieved many positive milestones," Estes said, noting that a new strategic plan will "build new networks to connect the university with alumni and students.

New board members from Colorado elected to three-year terms include Shawna Pollack, class of 1992, of Boulder and Dave Karpel, class of 1981, of Denver.

In addition, new ex-officio directors are Steve Barnett, class of 1976, of Boulder, representing the association's gift-giving Directors Club, and Candace Larsen, class of 1971, of Boulder, for the CU Parents Association.

The following directors have concluded their board service:

Graylon Cole, class of 1975, of Denver; Mary Gleason, class of 1970 and 1978, of Aspen; Dawn Massop, class of 1991, of Denver; Bev Nelson, class of 1981, of Boulder; Frank Prager, class of 1984, of Englewood; and Gary Sandblom, classes of 1967 and 1970, of Boulder.
