American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Who Are We?

We are the University of Colorado Boulder chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Our goal is to help mechanical engineering students get more involved, meet other students, and build skills outside of the classroom. Throughout the year, we host professional events, technical projects, social activities, and opportunities to connect with engineers in the industry.

Founded in 1880, ASME is a nonprofit professional organization that brings engineers together to share knowledge and develop new skills. The organization also creates engineering standards and offers publications, conferences, educational resources, and professional-development opportunities.

What We Do

Professional Development

We help students connect with industry professionals and learn more about careers in mechanical engineering through events such as:

  • Industry panels
  • Guest talks from practicing engineers
  • Tours of engineering companies and facilities
Social Development / Networking

We also bring the mechanical engineering community together by hosting fun and relaxed events where students and faculty can connect outside the classroom, including:

  • Dinners with professors
  • Happy hours
  • Our Pi Day celebration—including the chance to pie your professors!
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Bowling, paintball, and other group activities
