All students are required to have health insurance during their time at CU Boulder. Students may elect coverage through an individual health insurance plan, through a family member or employer, or the university’s Student Gold Health Insurance Plan. Students must meet this requirement their first semester at CU Boulder and every fall semester thereafter.

Automatic Enrollment in Gold Health Insurance

Students registered for six or more undergraduate credit hours or one or more graduate credit hours for fall 2017 will be automatically enrolled in the Student Gold Health Insurance Plan and charged $1,995 per semester.

Students must complete the health insurance requirement every fall semester. The deadline to select or waive health insurance for fall 2017 has passed.
The deadline to select or waive the Gold Plan passed on September 15, 2017. There is a one-time petition to waive the Gold Plan that must be submitted by December 14, 2017 to be considered. To request a petition, please email patientservices@colorado.edu, provide your student ID number, and a petition will be emailed to you to fill out.

Exceptions to automatic enrollment: New summer students, non-degree seeking Continuing Education, Leave of Absence Program, Study Abroad, Evening MBA program, or exclusively Be Boulder Anywhere courses.

Selection/Waiver Process

Before the fall and spring semeseter deadlines (which have passed at this time), you confirm your enrollment in the Gold Plan, add the Campus Care Supplement to your existing health insurance, or waive both university plans by providing proof of health insurance.
