Heritage Center
.
The Heritage Center preserves and tells the stories of CU Boulder's extraordinary history over the past 150 years.
Home to over 40,000 photographs, books, artifacts and textiles, the center’s collection includes yearbooks, academic publications, student newspapers, sports programs, scrapbooks, alumni publications, sports memorabilia and more.
Temporary Museum Closure
Due to the comprehensive restoration of Old Main, CU Boulder’s first and oldest building, the Heritage Center will be closed to the public and university community beginning June 1, 2023.
Staff is available for donations and research by appointment only. The museum expects to reopen with new exhibits in 2026 — the university’s 150th anniversary. During our closure, students, faculty, alums and visitors are encouraged to tour one of the campus’s many free museums, including the CU Art Museum, CU Museum of Natural History and Fiske Planetarium.
Please review the FAQs: Museum Closure below for more information about our closure and Old Main’s restoration.
Pause on Research Requests
In preparation for CU Boulder's 150th anniversary in 2026, the Heritage Center will focus solely on projects related to this milestone. As a result, we will not be accepting any public research or photo reproduction requests until the Fall of 2026. This pause will allow our staff to create exhibits and support the campus's anniversary celebrations.
