Colorado Runs Cleaner

As part of CU Boulder’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, the university has taken a significant step toward reducing single-use plastics through a new 10-year pouring rights agreement with PepsiCo Beverages. The agreement eliminates all single-use plastic beverage containers from campus beverage services, aligning with CU Boulder’s Climate Action Plan and reflecting strong advocacy from students, faculty, staff and university leadership.

The agreement establishes a 100% non-plastic beverage system with no exceptions, transitioning campus beverage offerings to aluminum and glass containers. It also extends to third-party vendors and includes sustainability commitments from PepsiCo, such as electric delivery vehicles and product take-back programs—reinforcing CU Boulder’s role as a national leader in sustainable campus operations.
