- The time to act is now, and CU Boulder can lead the way. This was the theme of the 30th Campus Sustainability Summit held April 19–20. Here are the top takeaways from this year’s summit.
- A number of campus community members, including students, faculty, department groups and more, have been selected for the Campus Sustainability Awards for innovations that reduce the university's ecological footprint, enhance social cohesion and equity, and integrate sustainability into the culture of Boulder and local communities.
- Vote on the best student sustainability solutions projects, provide feedback on the campus Climate Action Plan and take electric transportation for a spin at the 30th annual Campus Sustainability Summit.
- Case competitions offer students an opportunity to take on real-world, “wicked” problems with the knowledge and skills they develop in the classroom. Leeds business students share their experiences.
- The Right Here, Right Now Mini Global Climate Concert on April 13 in Boulder, Colorado, will feature Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers and special guests, including Yola. Proceeds will benefit United Nations Human Rights and musicians impacted by climate change.
- The service provider for Front Range regional composting is narrowing the types of compost streams it will accept, reducing the types of items that can be composted on campus.
- Environmental Buffs at the Alferd Packer Grill will be able to study menus at each station displaying a carbon label next to their respective dish or ingredient. These labels will be colored either red, yellow or green, indicating the environmental impact of the ingredient or dish.
- Practicing sustainability offers many benefits for your future. Not only are environmentally-friendly practices and activities beneficial for the planet, but participating in programs, organizations and other opportunities tied to sustainability can help you with your job or internship search.
- CU Boulder is known for its focus on sustainability. As part of the campus community, you can participate in the culture of sustainability. You can find ways to join in at the Environmental Center and support other campus initiatives at the level of participation that works for you.
