- National Geographic just launched its 2018 Chasing Genius challenge, a competition offering $25,000 to turn an innovative idea into reality. Submissions close March 5.

- The regents' regular meeting Feb. 8 included a preliminary budget review, the approval of a new online electrical engineering master's degree, approval of three capital construction projects and more.
- At approximately 4:45 p.m., CU Boulder sent an alert to campus after reports of a man involved in an off-campus assault. Officers searched campus and the creek path area, and there was no sign of the suspect or a threat to campus.
- Today, CU Boulder joined in the release of a letter urging congressional leaders to make robust and sustained investment in science and engineering research a national priority. The Task Force on American Innovation―an alliance of business, academic and scientific associations―is asking for a bipartisan budget deal that raises budget caps for both defense and non-defense programs.
- The campus has joined a newly formed coalition of 13 universities that have united to help communities achieve their climate goals and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.
