Office of Graduate Access and Retention - January 2024 Issue

Since the release of the National Academies consensus report Advancing Antiracism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in STEMM Organizations: Beyond Broadening Participation in Feb. 2023, the overall landscape of ADEI in the United States has shifted within national and local contexts. On Feb. 29 – 30, 2024, the Board on Behavioral, Cognitive and Sensory Sciences will host an event discussing the challenges of advancing and implementing ADEI in STEMM as well as sessions on strategies for forming partnerships with Minority Serving Institutions, responding to resistance to change, fostering inclusivity at the teams and organizational levels, and tracking gatekeeper decisions.

This annual award honors individuals (faculty, staff or student) and units who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and made significant contributions to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion at the University of Colorado. This award is open to persons and units who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and achievement in advancing DEI goals and objectives across the university. We strongly encourage individuals and departments from all areas of the university to apply for this award, not only those who work in a DEI office.

Awards: Four awards may be given each year. Recipients of this honor receive $2,000 and a commemorative award.

Selection Process: Nominations will be reviewed by the President’s DEI Awards Committee which includes representatives from each CU campus.

Who May Nominate: Nominations are welcome from any member of the university community.

For more than three decades the CBCF, in partnership with CBC Spouses, has awarded scholarships to talented and deserving students. Each year, they award more than 300 scholarships to current or upcoming college students across a variety of disciplines that demonstrate leadership ability through exemplary community service and academic talent. Scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students across fields. Applications are due March 31, 2024.
