May VC Spotlight Award winners

These individuals were all nominated for going above and beyond their normal call of duty. We are grateful for their work and dedication to moving the mission of our division forward each and every day.

James Grogan

University Memorial Center

James's nominator said: "James has been with the University Memorial Center (UMC) for a little over a year now and has been such an amazing asset to the team. Not only does the entire staff sing his praises, but so do the building’s partners. He has stepped up to get to know the staff and operations, while also volunteering for numerous committees and events such as CU on Friday and our summer potluck. He is proactive, a problem solver and is always willing to lend a helpful hand no matter the circumstance. He goes above and beyond in all that he does and with a positive attitude. He truly deserves this nomination." Thank you, James!

Kim Kruchen

Student Affairs Office of Assessment & Planning

Kim's nominator said: "Kim and her team work consistently to support all areas within Student Affairs on so many initiatives! Most recently, Kim spent a great deal of time putting together information and a plan for the Parent's Leadership Society (PLS) Focus Groups, which she and her team executed without hesitation. Kim turned this project around within a few days to help our partners in Academic Affairs and the  AY 2020-21 planning committee. This is just one example of how Kim goes above and beyond her typical role within Assessment and Planning for the division. Kim has been instrumental in helping to develop an assessment strategy and utilize the results of various methods of data collection related to the New Student Welcome Experience, Fall Welcome and Family Engagement that has provided us direction to make changes to our programs and initiatives, develop phenomenal partnerships throughout campus and most importantly refocus on the achievement of our outcomes, which she was vital in crafting!

Without Kim’s leadership, there is no way our office would be in the place it is today to be able to pivot so quickly for the “innovative in-person” fall experience we are planning. She has helped to bridge gaps between the Office of Data Analytics, Undergraduate Education and other essential campus stakeholders with our office and within the division. She most definitely deserves applause and recognition for continuously going above and beyond in her role as well as outside the scope of it. For this and so much more, I am truly grateful for her leadership and expertise."  Thank you, Kim!

Jessica Ritter

Occupancy Management

Jessica's nominator said: "As we've all experienced, COVID-19 has thrown every process and system into a tailspin. Over the past three months, Jessica has been the 'behind the scenes queen' that has helped to facilitate so many of the critical processes that shape not just the experience for current residents who needed to move out, but also those who needed to stay for summer, and also those that are applying for fall 2020 housing. Jessica has been extremely responsive to requests for data, has been critical in her thought process, ensuring always to provide more than what is expressly asked. Jessica has been an overall delight. I can't begin to explain each of the reports that Jess has created and sent, the amount of time that she has saved by pulling data from systems and the number of mistakes that she has prevented by cross checking information. Jessica has certainly gone above and beyond in general, but especially within these last few months when it has been needed most." Thank you, Jessica!

Annie Tuck

Recreation Services

Annie's nominator said: "Annie has been a virtual programming rock star. From day one, Annie jumped in with both feet and began working with her staff to develop virtual fitness classes. She did this without being asked and well before broad virtual programming discussions began. As the fitness coordinator, she has added several new skills to her repertoire including IT wizard, Zoom aficionado, video director and more. It has not been an easy transition, but Annie took the lead, continues to ride the virtual highs and lows and provide a good product to the CU community. We appreciate all of your hard work and dedication!" Thank you, Annie!
