Membership Requirements:
CUSEDS is for all students at CU Boulder and the surrounding community! Active participation shall be the sole requirement of membership and is divided into the two following categories:
CUSEDS Full Members – Full Members shall be registered as students at the CU-Boulder campus and are required to attend one monthly CUSEDS meeting or CUSEDS event. Full members will also receive a SEDS stole at graduation.
CUSEDS Affiliated Members – Affiliated Members shall not be registered at the CU-Boulder campus. Affiliated Members shall have all the rights of full members but shall not be eligible to receive funding from CUSEDS. Affiliated membership requires an attendance of one monthly CUSEDS meeting or CUSEDS event.
Membership requirements can also be fulfilled by actively participating in any of the projects or competitions we have going on for the year! Check out the projects we usually take part in.

Interested in Leadership?
There may be an open position for you on our Executive Board (E-Board)! Come to our meetings and find out how you can be involved. We have members actively placed on our E-Board every semester, and even if you're a new member, we will still consider you if we have open positions! Our leadership consists of five positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Outreach Coordinator.
The president serves as the chief coordinating student for the chapter as a whole. The president is the chapter representative to the public and SEDS-USA, and the president shall be the official liaison to the University of Colorado. The president shall chair all CUSEDS planning and general meetings or else appoint a different Executive Board member to do so as needed. The president shall be the primary signer on financial accounts.
The vice president shall attend student government meetings as necessary. In the event of an absent president, the vice president shall chair all meetings and be the chapter representative to the public, SEDS-USA, and the University of Colorado at Boulder. The vice president shall serve as the SEDS-USA chapter representative and will attend the monthly Council of Chapter meetings.
The treasurer monitors and manages the chapter’s finances. The treasurer shall be a signer on financial accounts and shall maintain all receipts and budget plans. This includes paying SEDS-USA dues, organizing fundraising requests and activities, keeping financial records, knowing the status of the chapter’s university bank account, and acting as the liaison between CUSEDS and on-campus funding sources.
The secretary is responsible for writing minutes for the planning and general meetings. The secretary monitors and keeps records of logistical information such as committee lists and official roster. The secretary shall be the primary member responsible for ensuring that thank-you notes are sent to the appropriate people. The secretary shall ensure that the content on the CUSEDS website is up to date.
The outreach coordinator acts as the central point of contact for outreach events to establish interaction between CUSEDS members and non-members, which may include other students at CU-Boulder (including other student organizations with overlapping interests) and/or people outside the university entirely. They will establish and chair meetings of the outreach committee on an as-needed basis. The outreach coordinator will plan and organize outreach events periodically throughout the year.
Do you think we need another leadership position? We will hear you out! Send us an email briefly describing what leadership position you think we need on our executive board and we will schedule a meeting to see if the rest of leadership wants to add the position. As our club grows, we could always use more people on our leadership team to divide up tasks.
