Heidi Day
Neuroscience Club Advisor, Nu Rho Psi Advisor, Associate Professor
Department of Psychology and Neuroscience

Dr. Day studied pharmacology as an undergraduate at the University of Bath in England. Part of the program involved a 1-year internship at the Parke-Davis Neuroscience Research Institute, and they invited her back to do a PhD joint with the University of Cambridge. After graduating from Cambridge in 1994, she accepted a post-doctoral position at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her 1-year US adventure turned into five after meeting her husband, and then they both moved to CU Boulder, where they’ve been for over 20 years! Heidi has spent most of her time here in research, focusing on stress response systems. In 2012 she taught her first class, and in 2014 was hired as a full-time neuroscience instructor. Currently, Dr. Day teaches NRSC 2200 (Lab Techniques in Neuroscience), NRSC 4062 (Neurobiology of Stress), and NRSC 4132 (Neuropharmacology). As well as acting as faculty advisor for the neuroscience club, she serves on the Honors Council, on department committees for undergraduate education (both for psychology and neuroscience) and is the departmental co-coordinator for the learning assistant program. Now that her 2 boys are grown up and in college, Dr. Day claims to actually have free time! She enjoys spending it with friends and family, walks with her sweet dog Maple, reading, and keeping up with British culture!
