John Tran

John Tran (he/him) is a CU Boulder alumnus (c/o 2017) and serves as the Assistant Director of Advising & Student Retention for the College of Communication, Media, Design, and Information (CMDI). John's professional background consists of academic advising, academic coaching, and summer bridge programming. As a scholar-practitioner, John aspires to advocate for voices who have been/continue to be silenced by oppressive structures. John also hopes to take this opportunity on Staff Council to raise awareness and center staff voices in our efforts to contribute to a shared governance that represents the interests and needs of our staff.
John holds a BA in Ethnic Studies, a MA in Higher Education, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Leadership for Educational Equity, with a concentration in Urban & Diverse Communities.
