Donor Eligibility Update

The FDA has made revisions to blood donor eligibility, which primarily impact those who have lived or served abroad, and those that have been exposed to viruses including HIV and Malaria. To learn more about eligibility, visit the Vitalant Blood Donation Eligibility page.

New Pledge Portal

If you are interested in participating in a CU Staff Council blood drive, make the pledge to donate using Vitalant’s new Donor Pledge page. By signing up, you will receive information about upcoming drives, be able to schedule a donation appointment, and have your donation automatically attributed to CU.

Our Commitment to Inclusivity

Staff Council stands with the American Red Cross, who recently released a statement about the FDA updating its blood donation eligibility requirements. We agree that “blood donation eligibility should not be determined by methods that are based on sexual orientation. We are committed to working toward achieving this goal, and are encouraged by this FDA eligibility change which we view as a scientifically based interim step to achieving our greater goal”.

February 1st - 14th Blood Drive

We encourage you to use the new Vitalant Donor Pledge page to sign up to donate blood between February 1st - 14th. Blood Drive Coaster GiveawayWhile supplies last, CU-affiliated donors pledging for this drive will receive a locally-sourced, one-of-a-kind wooden coaster with a Buff logo.

Finally, we understand that not everyone is eligible to donate. If you would like to get involved with our other non-blood-related community activities, such as volunteering at a donor center, our canned food drives, or an upcoming shoe drive, please contact the Staff Council.
