I am excited this month to amplify a letter from Chief People Officer Robyn Fergus and Vice Chancellor for Academic Resource Management Ann Schmiesing announcing the launch of HR Blueprint, which I encourage you to read.
Why HR Blueprint matters
Co-sponsored by Robyn and Ann, HR Blueprint marks one of the first major project launches in support of our Transformation and Financial Resilience efforts, about which Provost Moore and I wrote to faculty and staff this spring. HR Blueprint seeks to create a more equitable experience for staff and faculty by ensuring they have the tools, systems and resources they need to grow and thrive on campus, regardless of affiliation.
This is what Transformation and Financial Resilience is all about: examining and transforming the ways we deliver on our mission to better and more equitably serve our students, faculty and staff – and doing so in ways that position the university for long-term financial resilience.
Digging in to HR Blueprint
HR Blueprint will be a multi-year initiative that engages a wide range of constituents across campus, and I encourage you to read the letter from Robyn and Ann and visit the HR Blueprint webpage to learn more about what’s to come with this project.

- Juneteenth and Pride Month: On the eve of Juneteenth and in the midst of Pride Month, I hope all of you make time to reflect upon both the progress made and the progress we still have to make as we work toward increasing equity and belonging at CU Boulder and in society. There continue to be a number of opportunities this month to celebrate Juneteenth and Pride Month on our campus and in surrounding communities.
- Sustainability snippets: I was honored to join the governor in Pueblo recently as the state awarded CU Boulder a pair of grants that will help us explore the potential for geothermal energy on our campus, and I am excited for this week’s Board of Regents meeting where we have a pair of proposals moving forward that will help advance the decarbonization of our campus. Our recently updated Climate Action Plan isn’t just a concept. The great work many of you are contributing to is already helping bring it to life.
