SMART group photoWelcome to the SMART program at the University of Colorado Boulder. Pictured above is the class of 2017. This year, 24 students from institutions nationwide are participating in this challenging and informative research program. This year SMART is proud to welcome seven of these interns who will be doing research as part of the NSF-sponsored Science and Technology Center on Real-Time Functional Imaging, or STROBE.

This summer you will have the opportunity to complete and present a research project, and take part in weekly workshops that will prepare you for graduate school. SMART is designed to help you define your educational and career goals, and we hope that many of you will become the faculty and researchers of tomorrow. We need your talent and diverse points of view to contribute to our nation’s college classrooms and scholarly efforts.

In addition to your academic pursuits, we invite you to take advantage of the social activities organized by SMART. As part of a group of SMART students, you can work together to create a community based on your shared experiences during the next 10 weeks.  Many SMART students remain in touch with us and each other long after the summer ends, and some return to CU-Boulder to enroll in our PhD programs.

Congratulations on your acceptance into SMART! We look forward to getting to know each one of you during the summer ahead.
