The Dr. Peter Ramig Endowed Scholarship was established in 2021. Dr. Peter Ramig’s intent was to fund an endowment for SLP graduate students in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences with a special interest in stuttering. Dr. Ramig was a Professor, Department Chair, researcher, and clinician within the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at University of Colorado Boulder and is now Professor Emeritus in the department. While at CU, Dr. Ramig established a national reputation for his research and clinical work with persons who stutter (PWS). Having educated several generations of students working with PWS, Dr. Ramig desired to establish a further link between his passion for this clinical group and the students who were preparing to work with them. With this intent and Dr. Ramig’s great interest and experience in mind, the Scholarship Selection Committee seeks to promote a level of excellence and dedication in students committed to a career in Clinical Speech and Language Pathology with a particular interest in stuttering. This $5000 scholarship will be awarded to accomplished students during their education to provide them with extensive experience with PWS. The committee is especially interested in students who exhibit the highest levels of skill, compassion, and interest in stuttering.
