Work with Us: Researchers

Graduate training often prepares researchers to identify gaps in the literature, write for other researchers, and publish in journals that many educators may never see.
Even researchers who focus on education to support real-world change may not have the support, opportunities, or incentives to build truly collaborative research with practitioners or mobilize developing knowledge for meaningful engagement
HOW WE WORK WITH RESEARCHERS

We help researchers shift from "study" to "learn with."

We support the full cycle of collaborative research.

We support design of research that is more accessible and actionable.

WHAT WE BRING

A field-building home for research on education research that is actually used by educators.

A systems-design perspective -- how do the systems around researchers need to change?

A facilitation stance that honors diverse perspectives and expertise.

Reimagining Education Research & Development

How can we collectively reimagine education R&D infrastructure?

Envisioning a more connected, responsive, and practice-centered education R&D ecosystem is not something a few people can do in isolation. We are in the midst of a collaborative initiative that seeks to bring together educators, researchers, policymakers, funders, and community leaders to reimagine the R&D infrastructure supporting P-20 education. Supported by the Spencer Foundation (March 2026 - May 2027), we've designed this initiative as a "moveable feast" -- a series of connected gatherings, workshops, and meetings co-hosted by existing networks and conferences.

Co-Design of Faculty Learning Events

What if faculty meetings were designed to support collective learning about how to make our research more useful, timely, and relevant for practice?

Changing the way we design and conduct research requires learning. We partner with leaders of Schools of Education to co-design powerful collective learning opportunities, including meetings and retreats, for faculty.

Towards a Field for Collaborative Education Research

In an effort to support sensemaking around what it takes for individuals and organizations to meaningfully engage in collaborative education research, we convened the Collaborative Education Research Collective. 150 people from a range of institutional homes participated in a series of field-wide conversations during the summer and fall of 2022. These discussions, funded by the Hewlett Foundation aimed to conceptualize and articulate the necessary learning for partners from across organizational spheres and roles to participate in collaborative education research.
