Convene

RASEI serves as a hub for bringing together scientists, engineers, policymakers, students, and industry partners across a broad spectrum of disciplines. While virtual meetings have made connection easier than ever, we believe in-person gatherings remain essential for building the trust, sparking the unexpected conversations, and fostering the collaborations that drive innovation. We will often offer hybrid options for accessibility, but our convening programs are designed to bring people together (literally), to share knowledge, build relationships, and develop new directions for clean energy research.

Convening communities offers multiple benefits. Face-to-face interactions build trust and understanding across disciplines. Unstructured conversations during breaks and meals spark unexpected collaborations. Diverse perspectives challenge assumptions and reveal new approaches. Students and early-career researchers connect with established leaders. Teams strengthen existing partnerships and form new ones. Whether through regular seminar series, major conferences, or focused workshops, RASEI creates spaces where the energy research community comes together to learn, collaborate, and advance the field.

Our Convening Activities:

Seminar Series bring leading researchers to share their work and engage in dialogue with the RASEI community. The Big Energy Seminar Series, running for over a decade, provides a forum for energy-focused researchers from across disciplines to present their work and exchange ideas. The Nozik Lecture Series, established in 2022, brings world-renowned energy scientists to Boulder annually for keynote addresses that inspire and inform the broader community. These regular series create ongoing opportunities for learning and connection.

Workshops and Focused Gatherings bring together smaller groups around specific challenges or opportunities, exploring emerging research areas, developing collaborative proposals, or addressing particular technical or policy questions. These intensive sessions allow deep engagement and often launch new investigations or partnerships.

Conferences and Symposia create larger-scale opportunities for the energy research community to gather, share findings, debate approaches, and build networks. RASEI supports hosting national and international conferences in Colorado, working with community members to facilitate gatherings that advance knowledge and strengthen the field.

Community Building Events provide more casual opportunities for connection, such as networking receptions, poster sessions, student-faculty interactions, that complement structured presentations and discussions. These gatherings help integrate new members into the community, support early-career researchers, and maintain the relationships that make collaboration possible.

Many of our events are open to anyone interested in clean energy research and development. Whether you're a researcher seeking collaboration, a student exploring the field, an industry partner looking for connections, or simply curious about energy innovations, you're welcome to participate.
