Trussville City Schools offers a Build a Better Book internship as part of the year-long Senior Engineering Design class. The pilot internship is scheduled to begin in Fall 2022. Interns will complete design challenges for products that will assist blind and low vision students in the school district. Potential design challenge topics include: adaptive PE (physical education) tools (such as a single-point switch connected to ball launcher, etc.), making storybooks more accessible for a range of disabilities, tactile supplements for school field trips (local zoo), and tactile and accessible games.
