Build a Better Book Presentation
Presenters:
Dianna Geers - Grant Wood Area Education Agency / Chelsea Sims - Iowa City Community School District
Build a Better Book engages youth with an empathy-driven design task: creating accessible books and materials for children who are blind or have other vision impairments. Participants will learn how to harness maker mindset and technologies to create interactive, tactile, inclusive products that can be accessed by multiple senses. This session will be mainly informational. 

Build a Better Book Experience Lab

Participants will experience creating tactile images for learners with vision impairments. After this experience, participants will consider how to create inclusive products that can be accessed by multiple senses. This session comes from Build a Better Book, which engages youth with an empathy-driven design task: creating accessible books and materials for children who are blind or low-vision.
