David Edinger

As Denver’s Chief Performance Officer, David launched Mayor Michael Hancock’s Peak Performance initiative in July 2011.  Innovation comes in many shapes and sizes, but the common element is a decentralized approach that enables those who do the work to improve upon it.    Supporting this approach is the Peak Academy, in which Denver employees train other employees in methodologies such as Lean and Behavioral Insights Techniques.  In addition, the $11M annual Innovation Fund supports breakthrough innovation.

Prior to his appointment, David led similar efforts for Denver’s Department of Safety.  Before the public sector, David spent several years consulting in the pharmaceutical industry and a decade running warehouse and logistics operations in Boulder and Denver.

David received an MBA from the University of Virginia and an AB in Economics from the University of Michigan.   He employs a production board on his home refrigerator for his four children as they complete their chores, and notes that this effort has been a complete failure.
