Current PhD student
School of Education

Daniel is a doctoral student in the School of Education, with research interests in teacher identity and raciolinguistic ideologies, education policy, and these intersections in Latinx communities in the US. He was an elementary school Spanish teacher in the DC area, and afterwards worked on an MA in Linguistics, with a focus in sociolinguistics, from Florida International University. Having spent most of his life in Miami, FL, he is deeply inspired by the sociolinguistic and historical context he grew up with, and hopes to use ethnographic methods to further investigate how language is framed in the context of race, ethnicity, place, class, history, and policy in Miami schools.
