Bernardita Yunis

Bernardita was born in Viña del Mar, Chile, and has lived in the United States since she was 10 years old (1996), growing up in Miami, Florida. In 2008, she received a BSC and BLA in Communication Studies, International Studies, and Religious Studies from the University of Miami, and in 2015, she received her MA from Penn State in Rhetoric. Bernardita has taught since 2010, and taught at the George Washington University on Latinx Identities and Stereotypes in the First-Year Writing program. She was also the Faculty Mentor in the Writing Center, supporting faculty and writing consultants in their work with multilingual writers. At CU Boulder, her graduate work engages conversations on identity, recovery, performance, Critical Race Theory, and the immigrant, Latinx, and Palestinian experiences through her Ph.D. in Communication Studies, in the Rhetoric and Culture concentration. Her work is guided by antiracist values and motivations to constantly work to dismantle violences enacted by colonialism and White supremacy.
