Hey commuters!

December is here, which means cozy sweaters, holiday lights, and finals week! It’s that whirlwind time where we’re all juggling study sessions, deadlines and dreams of a well-deserved break. Remember, as you're hitting the books, take a breather and treat yourself—and nothing says comfort like a hot bowl of soup!

A quick tip for those chilly commutes—grab a thermos, fill it with your favorite soup and enjoy a little warmth between classes. Soup is the ultimate commuter comfort food: portable, filling and a total mood booster! Plus, there’s something magical about a hot meal on a cold day to keep you going.

Here’s a list of some of the best soups from around the world to warm up your holidays.

Tom Kha Gai (Thailand and MY FAVORITE) – A creamy coconut milk soup with lemongrass, galangal and tender chicken, bursting with sweet, sour and spicy flavors.

Pho (Vietnam) – A comforting, aromatic broth with rice noodles, herbs and your choice of meat, perfect for cozying up.

Miso Soup (Japan) – Light yet flavorful, with miso paste, tofu, seaweed and scallions, a great pick-me-up during finals.

French Onion Soup (France) – Rich caramelized onions in a savory broth, topped with toasted bread and melted cheese.

Caldo Verde (Portugal) – A hearty potato-based soup with kale and chorizo, bringing warm, savory flavors to the holiday table.

Mulligatawny (India) – A curry-spiced soup with lentils, rice and veggies, offering a flavorful kick and creamy texture.

Borscht (Eastern Europe) – Vibrant beet soup with a tangy flavor, often served with a dollop of sour cream, great for the winter season.

Avgolemono (Greece) – A creamy, lemony chicken and rice soup, thickened with egg, for a comforting, zesty flavor.

Sopa de Ajo (Spain) – Garlic lovers, rejoice! This bread-based soup with garlic and poached egg warms the soul on cold days.

Chupe de Camarones (Peru) – A seafood lover’s delight with shrimp, milk, cheese and Peruvian spices, offering a rich, comforting flavor.

Each one is perfect for a holiday-inspired break to bring a little global warmth into your study days!
