Tristan Caro

Biography:

Tristan is a second year graduate student in Geological Sciences at CU Boulder.  He is excited about questions involving life in the deep subsurface. For example, where does nutrition and energy come from when there is no light?  How can studying these ecosystems inform our search for life on other worlds?  Originally from upstate New York, Tristan moved to California and completed his BS in Molecular Biology at University of California, Berkeley.  He worked in a microbial ecology lab and interned at NASA’s Ames Research Center, where he investigated how microorganisms adapt to deep space conditions.  This cemented Tristan’s interested in deep space-related graduate research.  Tristan is excited about the outdoors of Colorado, building things with wood, and brewing/pickling!
