Kyle Reinholt

Kyle is a PhD Student working in the Superhuman Computing Lab under Dr. Shaun Kane. The Superhuman Computing Lab exists to empower people through technology. His work is around making images or graphics on touch devices more accessible to people who are blind or visually impaired.

Kyle was a 7 year senior, meaning, it took him 7 years to graduate from his undergrad university. He went to a small liberal arts college in Southern West Virginia called Concord University. Kyle says he was fumbling through the program for the first couple years, failing classes, and majoring in business administration. He changed his major twice before landing on computer science. At the time, he had no idea he would ever be doing research. An English professor he had for World Literature recommended that the McNair Scholar's Program. Kyle says he was blown away when he received the letter because he had never thought his work was of any real merit. He became a McNair Scholar and doors started opening for him everywhere. Kyle found out his computer science professor was also a McNair Scholar and he took Kyle under his wing and introduced him to the awesome/scary world of research. He applied to a few REU's and did summer research as an undergraduate at Virginia Tech and CU Boulder. Later, since he really enjoying the research "grind", he applied to a few PhD programs. Kyle was ecstatic to get into CU Boulder's CS PhD program.
His interests outside of his research involve snow boarding, cooking, anime, and watching twitch streams.

Kyle is a graduate mentor to McNair Scholar Efram Aredo
