Biography:
Growing up in rural North Carolina, Jasmine found solitude in the rich Appalachian Mountains and developed a deep connection with the natural environment. As a result, she became interested in energy consumption and resources. Jasmine earned her BS in Building Science and Building Systems with a minor in Sustainable Technology from Appalachian State University. She is currently a PhD student in Architectural Engineering,concentrating in Building Systems Engineering, under the guidance of Dr. Gregor Henze. Her research involves hygrothermal modeling of bioinspired building materials, and their role in grid interactive buildings. Her passions involve research and the promotion of equitable education, particularly minority retention, and representation in STEM fields, as she inspires to become a professor who facilitates social progress beyond academic contribution. She loves cats and, in her free time, she enjoys backpacking, music, and traveling.
