Hermann Klein-Hessling Barrientos
- McNair Scholar
- CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Hermann is a proud first-generation immigrant and Pell Grant student with Mexican and German heritage. He is the first in his family to obtain an undergraduate degree in the United States and become an engineer.
He has spent the last 4 years actively involved in undergraduate research through the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Chemical Society. With the current science funding fiasco, Hermann will be taking a brief hiatus from academia and will begin work as a Refining Engineer in the Operations Research Department at a Fortune 25 company, with the hopes of retiring his parents before returning to obtain a graduate degree in Engineering.
Hermann was mentored by Dr. Ryan G Hadt, Department of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology.
